Are You Choosing to Be Defiled?

Daniel made a decision that many of us need to make today: he chose not to defile himself. The king’s food was luxurious, appealing, and acceptable by worldly standards—but not by covenant standards. Daniel didn’t need a word from heaven to know it was wrong. He already knew what Elohim said.

Many of us already know what we should and shouldn’t be consuming—physically, mentally, spiritually. But the question is: Will we choose holiness over habit?

What is defiling your temple? What’s “on your plate” that seems normal to everyone else but doesn’t align with Elohim’s standards?

Holiness begins with a decision. Don’t wait for a sign—make the decision like Daniel did.

Reading:

Daniel 1:8 (NOG)

Daniel made up his mind not to harm himself by eating the king’s rich food and drinking the king’s wine. So he asked the chief-of-staff for permission not to harm himself in this way.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NOG)

19 Don’t you know that your body is a temple that belongs to the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit, whom you received from God, lives in you. You don’t belong to yourselves. 20 You were bought for a price. So bring glory to God in the way you use your body.

Psalm 119:11 (NOG)

I have treasured your promise in my heart

so that I may not sin against you.
