Affliction as Redirection

Jonah’s storm didn’t come out of nowhere — it came out of disobedience. He went the opposite way of Yahweh’s command, and the sea responded. Yet even that storm was guided by grace. The same Elohim Who sent the wind also sent the whale. His purpose wasn’t to punish Jonah but to reroute him.

I can’t count the times Yahweh has done the same for me. I’ve walked into storms of my own making — wrong decisions, wrong timing, wrong priorities — and still, Yahweh used every wave to turn me back toward Him. Affliction has a way of confronting our direction. It reminds us that peace doesn’t live in Tarshish; it lives in obedience.

When life starts to spin from the choices we’ve made, don’t just cry for escape — cry for redirection. Yahweh specializes in turning our detours into divine destinations.

Reflection: Is there an area where Yahweh is using affliction to redirect your course?

Prayer: Yahweh, thank You for using storms I caused to turn me around. Redirect my steps to Your will and let obedience be my peace.

Reading: Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV) — A man’s heart plans his way, but Yahweh (the Lord) directs his steps.
